Yankees should wrap up win number 50
The New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays tonight looking to become the 3rd MLB team to reach 50 wins on the season. With future Hall of Famer CC Sabathia on the mound, fresh from picking up his 250th career run last time out, the New Yorkers will be hot favourites. However, I don’t expect it to be plain sailing for the Yankees. Toronto have scored five or more runs in their last five games so will expect to score well in a hitter friendly ball park.
Despite this, I expect Sabathia’s experience to be enough to guide New York to a win in a high scoring game.
Giolito the difference in battle of the Sox
>Chicago White Sox @ Boston Red Sox

The Chicago White Sox have had a mediocre season, they face the Boston Red Sox tonight with a 36-38 record, but in the form of starter Lucas Giolito they have a bright spark. Giolito (10-2) is responsible for just under a third of Chicago’s wins and despite a tough outing against the Chicago Cubs last time up he will be relied upon to bring home the win.
His opposite number, Eduardo Rodriguez, has also been solid this season and the game should be low scoring and Boston should push Chicago close, but Giolito has been playing at an All-Star level and that will be the difference.
Late show Dodgers will be needed again against familiar face
Even at the midway point of the season the Los Angeles Dodgers hold a commanding lead in the NL West. They are 13 wins ahead of Colorado and 15 ahead of tonight’s opponent, the Arizona Diamondbacks, thanks to a combination of impressive pitching and clutch hitting late in games.
LA have won three consecutive games on home runs in the bottom of the 9th inning and boast the stingiest defence in the Majors and, facing former Dodger Zack Greinke, will need
to be at their best. Greinke is 8-3 this season and has a 2.91 ERA he faces Clayton Kershaw (7-1, 2.85 ERA) in what should be an exceptional pitching matchup. Look for a low scoring game with the Dodgers edging out a victory as they continue to confirm their stronghold on the division.
