Home run king heads to Cincinnati
Milwaukee Brewers Christian Yelich brings his fearsome hitting skills to Cincinnati, to face the Reds. Yelich, has hit 31 home runs so far, this year and will be top seed in next week’s Home Run Derby. The reigning NL MVP has been exceptional again for the Brewers and facing Cincinnati’s best pitcher, Luis Castillo, he will need to be at his best. It will be a battle of the aces, with Castillo facing Brandon Woodruff (10-2) in what should be a closely fought battle.
In a hitter friendly ballpark, expect Yelich to be the difference as Milwaukee recover from last night’s loss with win.
Yankees will continue hot streak
The New York Yankees, fresh from their successful trip to London, are on an impressive hot streak. They have won eight of their last 10 and travel tonight to face the Tampa Bay Rays with J.A. Happ on the mound. Happ didn’t make the trip across the Atlantic so is well rested and will be looking to recover from a tough outing last time out against the Astros. However, he has had success against the Rays already this season and backed by a lineup in formidable home run form he will expect to get the win.
DJ LeMahieu and Gary Sanchez will key the Yankees offence in a game that should see a lot of runs. Look for the Yankees to win a high scoring game.
Soroka will shut down Phillies
The Atlanta Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies and will be expecting a win with their 21-year-old star, Mike Soroka on the mound. Soroka is 9-1 this year (11-2 in his career) and is fast becoming one of the most feared men in the majors. With the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr, Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson also in the lineup the Braves are building a solid young team who could be playoff contenders for years to come.
The 2019 season has been dominated by Soroka, and he will look to head in to the All-Star break with 10 wins under his belt, the Phillies have been mediocre this term and I expect them to end up on the wrong end of a low scoring game tonight.
