Paul Pogba is still hoping to move to Real Madrid before the end of August, according to the Manchester United midfielder’s brother Mathias.
The Red Devils star has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid throughout the summer transfer window but a deal failed materialise before the start of the new Premier League season.
Pogba has fuelled the transfer speculation surrounding his future by making a number of admissions that appeared to point to a desire for a change in his career.
However, the 26-year-old was part of the Manchester United team that were 4-0 winners against Chelsea FC in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford last weekend.
Manchester United will be reluctant to lose any players given that the Premier League’s transfer window has shut and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would not be able to sign a replacement.
However, Pogba’s brother Mathias has claimed that Paul still wants to move to Real Madrid before the European transfer deadline next month.
“Paul wants to go. He can’t do everything at United,” Mathias told Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“The player that Zidane is missing is Paul. It’s not impossible for Florentino to sign him.
“I can’t guarantee that Paul will continue at United. Until September 2, anything can happen. Madrid needs the football and joy that Paul brings.”
Manchester United were 4-0 winners against Chelsea FC in their Premier League opener last weekend courtesy of Pogba’s two assists in the home clash.
The Red Devils will make the trip to Wolves in their next Premier League fixture on Monday night.
Manchester United finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term.
